The Transportation Manager is responsible for leading logistics and transportation activities for Wahl Clipper Corporation - North America. This position establishes and develops strategic partnerships with carrier partners for both inbound and outbound shipments domestically and globally. Through these partnerships it is expected to achieve the highest quality and delivery performance at an optimum cost. The Transportation Manager reports to the Director of Distribution & Logistics. This position has 8 direct and indirect reports such as Transportation Team Lead, Customer Quality Coordinator, Transportation Coordinators, Office Assistant and Transportation Analysts.

PRINCIPAL ACCOUNTABILITIES:

• Develop processes that drive improved transportation performance.
• Ensure on time delivery to support our customers and contribute to cost balance.
• Manage transportation activities spend.
• Carrier negotiations, inbound and outbound transportation, e-commerce, TMS implementation, freight forwarding.
• Improve safety results with performance targets monitored through visual management systems.
• Improve delivery metrics through demonstrated commitment to quality of daily work practices and team member involvement.
• Operate in a team-based fashion where direct and indirect staff are developing in their roles and are engaged in achieving better results in the workplace.
• Participate in on-going improvement of strategy deployment goals and targets.

MINIMUM REQUIREMENTS:

• Bachelor's degree in Logistics, Operations Management, Supply Chain or related field of study.
• Minimum of 5 years transportation management experience, and a minimum of 5 years leading a team. Or senior level experience in an operations/ distribution/ logistics environment supervising, mentoring, and developing associates
• Experience with TMS/WMS/ERP system (preferably Microsoft Dynamics 365)
• Strong project management skills with the ability to effectively manage multiple tasks and projects simultaneously
• Experience establishing carrier partnerships to drive best quality and delivery at optimum cost.
• Knowledge of safety systems and laws to drive best practice standards and company policies.
• Demonstrated ability to implement delivery strategies and manage quality systems aimed at driving quality assurance protocols.
• Experience in developing leaders and highly participative team member cultures.
• Ability to lead and coach on all elements of continuous improvement.
