Supplier Quality Engineer

Wahl Clipper Corporation, a global manufacturer of branded Consumer and Professional products, has an exciting opportunity for a team-oriented individual to fill the role of Supplier Quality Engineer at our headquarters in Sterling, Illinois.

The Supplier Quality Engineer will work closely with the Sourcing department and other functional areas in the implementation of the Supplier Quality Program. This role is responsible for the tactical and systematic management of supplier quality assurance and development. Driving improvements in the PPAP process, quality metrics, A3 problem solving and managing material quality at the source.  The position reports directly to the Director of NA Sourcing, with important dotted line relationships to operational leaders.

ESSENTIAL FUNCTIONS

• Responsible for the development of processes and procedures that improve supply base performance and raise the level of quality expectations.
• Work with incoming inspection and quality departments to ensure material rejections are addressed and the proper root cause/corrective actions are put in place and communicated to all stakeholders.
• Monitor and report on supplier performance. Provide the sourcing team with supplier performance data so informed decisions can be made on supplier selection strategy.
• Work cross functionally to help implement process/other improvements in support of manufacturing through RIE events and other methodologies.
• Conduct supplier quality audits and report results. Provide subsequent recommendations, action plans and timing to achieve resolutions to existing issues.
• Participate in developing a new supplier evaluation and material approval process.
• Performs other duties as assigned by Supervisor.

MINIMUM REQUIREMENTS:

• Bachelor's degree in Engineering preferred (Supply Chain or related disciplines considered)
• 3-5 years supplier quality program experience required
• 3-5 years statistical analysis required
• Strong knowledge of MSA, APQP, PPAP, root cause analysis and other quality tools
• Proven problem solving experience and managing material quality at the source
• Experience in a Lean Manufacturing environment preferred
• Ability to plan and organize with strong auditing skills
• Excellent cross-functional team collaboration skills
• Strong communication and presentation skills
• Ability to travel domestically and internationally (up to 25%)
