Supervisor - Receiving and Material Warehouse

Wahl Clipper Corporation, a global manufacturer of branded Consumer and Professional products, has an exciting opportunity for a team-oriented individual to fill the role of Supervisor - Receiving and Material Warehouse at our North America manufacturing plant in Sterling, Illinois.

This position is responsible for leading our frontline leaders and supporting our servant leadership model. Responsibilities consist of setting expectations, coaching and developing team leaders, and creating an empowered environment. The Supervisor reports directly to the Sr. Manager Distribution This position directly oversees team leads and assistant team leads with indirect management of hourly employees.

ESSENTIAL FUNCTIONS:

  • Deploy and execute operational objectives that aligns with department and company goals to set clear expectations and SMART goals for the frontline team.
  • Supervise, coach, and empower team leads by understanding current state and supporting improvements to meet customer and employee objectives.
  • Tactically make decisions based on team leads input to develop solutions to achieve SMART goals.
  • Effectively communicate execution gaps in standing meetings (i.e., Leadership huddles, GEMBA walks, etc.) and present solutions to meet customer and employee objectives.
  • Determines day to day operational decisions for receiving and material warehouse operations (material warehouse supports manufacturing operations)

PRINCIPAL ACCOUNTABILITIES:

  • Review SMART goals daily to understand current state and communicate to Team Leads.
  • Improve safety metrics through dialogue with Team Leads to develop corrective and preventative actions
  • Role model and promote a quality-oriented mindset with Team Leads that drive corrective action
  • Meet customer expectations by managing team leads in achieving daily operational schedule.
  • Coach and develop team leads and assistant team leads on building continuous improvement skills, practices, and principles
  • Partner with HR to manage employee relations and elevate issues to Manager, as necessary
  • Performs other duties as assigned by Supervisor.

MINIMUM REQUIREMENTS:

  • High school diploma or equivalent is required. Two-year college degree is preferred.
  • 3-5 years supervisory experience required
  • Ability to communicate effectively with both employees and management.
  • Hands-on skill and detailed knowledge of lean manufacturing principles is required.
  • Receptive to continuing education and training in the areas of supervision, safety, manufacturing technology, scheduling, quality and lean manufacturing.
  • Experience in developing and deploying lean material movement systems
  • Ability to model "Wahl Way" competencies including, respect for every individual, focus on process, and create value for the customer.
