Wahl Clipper Corporation, a global manufacturer of branded Consumer and Professional products, has an exciting opportunity for a product management leader to develop and implement the global product strategy.

The Senior Manager of Global Product Management identifies opportunities through market research, plans and manages the development of new products and enhancements of existing products for categories of the global professional portfolio, leveraging their product marketing expertise to ensure global market success.

This position leads multiple direct reports, such as product manager(s), assistant product manager(s) and/or coordinator(s), located in different geographic locations.

ESSENTIAL FUNCTIONS:

  1. Lead the global product portfolio strategy for your assigned product category including defining and optimizing the existing portfolio and driving product differentiation. Employ customer-centric research to identify key market opportunities and ensure product offerings maximize sales and profitability across the globe.
  2. Create value for the customer by developing and executing on the Professional product roadmap and seeking new opportunities to ensure a data driven, whole product offering.
  3. Systematically rationalize all products, including purchased finished goods, by enforcing a strong business justification for Wahl's Right to Win. Proactively examine existing Professional SKUs and create simple, effective KPIs for discontinuing marginal products.
  4. Leads a culture of continuous improvement and executes streamlined processes that enhance project efficiency, including new product development, promotions, and line reviews.
  5. Acts as the subject market expert and point of contact for the global Professional division on project development concepts, product strategy, and channel management.
  6. Analyzes market data and consumer insights to discover and implement new opportunities for pricing adjustments, line enhancements, and promotional strategies.
  7. Leads, coaches, and develops a team of professionals to drive the strategic growth and sales performance of the Global Professional portfolio.

PRINCIPAL ACCOUNTABILITIES:

  1. Identify opportunities, through research insights, to expand or reduce brand and product categories, ensuring a market driven, channel diverse, whole product offering.
  2. Collect, analyze, and report on data and adjust development plans as needed to meet global strategies, make recommendations, and drive new product development.
  3. Strategize, create, & oversee the implementation of standard operating procedures and process maps for all corporate product initiatives.
  4. Supervise product manager(s), assistant product manager(s) and/or coordinator(s) to ensure execution of the marketing, product roadmap, and sales plans set by the divisions.
  5. Partner with engineering and design teams to bring the product roadmap to life by setting priorities and timelines.
  6. Create new product strategies and oversee the management of new product development projects while streamlining and optimizing current queued projects.
  7. Ensure that various stages of product development are completed as the schedule dictates by leading, organizing and regularly meeting with cross-functional teams.
  8. Work cross functionally with the Senior Market Research Manager, Global Product Managers, Education Director, Brand Director, and Portfolio Management Directors to create and develop consistent brand messaging and marketing strategies.
  9. In conjunction with Global Brand Marketing, ensure consistent and accurate content across all platforms.
  10. Along with the Marketing Team, strategize, analyze, and oversee planning of promotional opportunities such as new product launches, pricing reductions, and other such opportunities.
  11. Execute pricing strategies to ensure pricing remains competitive and profit goals are met. Find cost reductions and additional methods of increasing portfolio profitability.
  12. Oversee product lifecycle and provide timelines & supporting research for phase in and phase out strategies.
  13. Ensure timely line review and promotional recommendations and the associated collateral.
  14. Provide guidance to the Product Management teams that allows for their career success through a clear vision, coaching and mentoring.
  15. Ensure team develops critical skills and identify growth opportunities that support their career goals.
  16. Perform other duties as assigned by supervisor.

MINIMUM REQUIREMENTS:

  • Bachelor's degree in marketing or business management, MBA preferred.
  • 10+ years of experience in product management or a similar role.
  • Experience leading and developing an effective team
  • Customer-centric mindset: Experience in applying key external learnings (consumer research, competitive intelligence, etc.) into actional customer value
  • A drive for results and sense of urgency
  • Must have excellent organizational skills to manage and prioritize multiple needs of organization with internal and external partners.
  • Excellent verbal and written communication skills.
  • Proficient in analyzing market data and interpreting data that leads to market strategies.
  • Strong interpersonal skills with ability to work effectively cross-functionally and with people of diverse backgrounds
  • Proficient at taking a broad view when approaching issues, using multiple and varied viewpoints.
  • Able to work under tight deadlines and motivate others
  • Ability to travel to other subsidiaries, customer meetings and trade events.
