Senior Director - Operations

This position is responsible for the overall vision, leadership and direction for Wahl Sterling operations including manufacturing, production control, quality, facility/maintenance, manufacturing engineering, and continuous improvement.  This role will lead the strategy and management of operations across the business to develop a world class manufacturing operation allowing us to exceed customer expectations.

 

PRINCIPAL ACCOUNTABILITIES:

  1. Develop, communicate and execute a clear vision and strategy for operations including the culture of employee involvement.
  2. Interview, coach, develop and motivate talent to ensure a high performing team in support of the Wahl Way.
  3. Support, drive and execute a safety first culture.
  4. Responsible for ensuring the operation meets customer expectations in terms of delivery and quality.
  5. Champion the use of problem-solving methods for regular performance and productivity issues; collaborate cross-functionally on root cause analysis.
  6. Provide leadership to ensure standard work systems and processes are in place. Routine check and adjust reviews, sharing best practices. 
  7. Develop and align accountability systems to create an environment of continuous improvement.
  8. Manage overall operations budget to ensure optimal efficiency and effectiveness. Drive cost improvement projects to deliver financial objectives. 
  9. Ability to analyze data and make informative capacity and resource decisions.
  10. Collaborating with NPD to meet product launch timelines.
  11. Partner with Human Resources to create a culture of trust, respect and empowerment.
  12. Sharing best practices across the organization, including globally.

 

MINIMUM REQUIREMENTS:

  • Bachelor's degree in Engineering, Business, Supply Chain or related field; Master's degree a plus.
  • Leading an organization of at least 500+ direct and indirect employees
  • Minimum of 10 years of experience in operational leadership roles of increasing responsibility including direct plant management experience.
  • Strategic planning in operations functions
  • Proficient in team building, coaching, strategy deployment and end to end collaboration.
  • Demonstrated experience with leading a continuous improvement culture
  • Strong relationship skills with proven ability to effectively coach and influence without direct authority.
  • Ability to communicate in a professional, effective & positive manner exhibiting a high level of emotional intelligence.
  • Ability to model the Company's values of respect for people, teamwork, and continuous improvement
