Wahl Clipper Corporation, a global manufacturer of branded Consumer and Professional products, has an exciting opportunity for an experienced marketing professional to join our team as a Product Manager at our Global Headquarters in Sterling, IL.
The Product Manager is responsible for defining, positioning, pricing, and the promotion of pain relief products / massagers along with managing the market adoption and product life cycles. This position is "the voice of the customer" and "owns" the product and is ultimately responsible for its overall success.
Essential Functions:
- Implements strategies that ensure increased sales, market share, profit and stretch with integrity (True North) for the Pain Relief / Massager lines for North America in the Consumer Division.
- Manages the product life cycle from New Product Development through obsolescence.
- Leads product development efforts in a cross functional team to ensure timely introduction of high-quality products.
- The Product Manager conducts market research through online surveys and focus groups to find information such as customer demographics in the marketplace. This information helps determine the correct target audience among other important factors. This position also performs market analyses to find trends or gaps in the market in order to determine costs such as the profitable margin for selling.
- This position collaborates with engineering and graphic design during product development to ensure that packaging is conveying the appropriate message to the customer based on the target audience and company goals.
- The Product Manager meets with perspective customers to establish a relationship by explaining the story behind the product. This position also meets with current customers to gain/maintain a relationship. Presentations are made through face-to-face interactions at the customers' location, Wahl Clipper Corporation, or trade shows.
- This position works with 3rd party advertising companies to ensure proper advertising of products through social media sites, promotions, charity events, etc.
Principal Accountabilities:
- Develops, organizes, and executes marketing plans for assigned products lines to maximize sales, profit and market share by identifying opportunities to expand brand and product categories.
- Conducts market research and stays abreast of best practices to use in recommendations.
- Orchestrates effective product launches and promotional campaigns to drive revenue while maintaining timelines and budgets for sales volumes and profit levels.
- Contributes to the company's ability to sell its full line of products within the specific category regardless of where the products are made.
- Cultivates relationships with Sales Team, value streams, engineering, R&D and subsidiaries, putting insights into action to achieve True North.
- Incorporates fact-based selling stories into professional presentations given to customers and representatives.
- Champions product development and best practices to enhance product categories working with Sourcing, Factories and 3rd Party Vendors.
- Analyzes POS, SKU rationalization and Retail Studies such as- Competitive landscape, performance by ACV, brand, etc.
- Works with confidential information regarding pricing, new product development, advertising plans and provides costs to establish competitive and profitable pricing models.
- Recommends and participates in the planning and implementation of division's long-term goal execution.
- Travels to trade shows and customers.
- Performs other duties as assigned by Supervisor.
Minimum Requirements:
- Bachelor's degree
- 5-8 years related work experience in the CPG industry
- Ability to work in a team environment
- Must have strong communication skills
- Proficient in Microsoft Office applications
- Must be able to prioritize tasks and drive multiple, consecutive projects
- Ability to perform duties with minimal supervision
- Must be able to perform non-strenuous light physical activity
- Position is based in Sterling, IL
