Product Designer

This position is responsible for designing parts and assemblies and making revisions to existing designs based on information provided from various Engineers.

PRINCIPAL ACCOUNTABILITIES:

• Utilizes the CAD system to design parts and assemblies from minimal information. The designs range from simple to complex. This position incorporates their knowledge and understanding of the design process/manufacturing process/department functions/assembly techniques into the designing of parts and assemblies and in revising existing drawings. Works with other departments and outside vendors on designing of parts.
• Troubleshoots complex problems on fixtures, testing equipment and finished products. Works with department foreman and operators to resolve design problems. Initiates changes, ECN's and completes implementation of changes.
• This position has knowledge of quality and part inspection methods. Measures and inspects parts using micrometers, calipers, comparators and other measuring equipment. Designs gauges to be used in the manufacturing process for part requirements. Determines complex part tolerances by performing tolerance stack-up and process knowledge.
• Constructs/builds complex parts in 3D and constructs/builds SLA models. Assists with model making, painting and part decorating.
• Maintains knowledge of U.S. and foreign approval agency requirements.
• Performs other duties as assigned by Supervisor.

MINIMUM REQUIREMENTS:

• Associates degree in Design Technology or equivalent experience.
• Three to five years experienced with solid modeling required, experience with Unigraphics CAD system preferred.
• Must be skilled in design, 3D design and construction of parts/models and be able to troubleshoot design problems.
