Plant Controller

Wahl Clipper Corporation, a global manufacturer of branded Consumer and Professional products, has an exciting opportunity for an energetic and team-oriented individual to fill the role of Plant Controller at our headquarters in Sterling, Illinois. Learn more about the Wahl difference here. 

The purpose of this position is to provide analysis and financial management of Sterling plant operations so appropriate financial decisions can be made.   This position reports directly into the Sr. Director of Operations.

ESSENTIAL FUNCTIONS:

1. Partner with plant operations and management to explain results, analyze variances, make improvements, manage projects and communicate explanations to management with recommended actions
2. Integrate and develop staff to ensure departmental development
3. Ensure inventory is properly valued and controlled by maintaining strong reconciliation and cycle count processes
4. Work to continuously improve the plant accounting function by maintaining standard work, identify opportunities for waste, and support projects to ensure efficient processes
5. Support development of the site's annual operation plan and budget
6. Monitor and implement plant internal controls as necessary to ensure reporting integrity, safeguarding of company assets, and risk identification
7. Maintain and recommend improvements in product costs by validating material, labor, and overhead standards
8. Participate in plant rapid improvement events and validate costs savings generated by these projects.
9. Perform end to end Lean based financial analysis giving visibility to the value streams to the real impact of strategies and decisions made by Sterling
10. Value stream map process flows within the manufacturing process
11. Performs all other duties as assigned by Supervisor

MINIMUM REQUIREMENTS:

• Bachelor's degree in Accounting
• CPA, CMA, or CIA strongly preferred
• Supervisory experience preferred
• Minimum of 5 years financial experience through public accounting/auditing and/or industry experience. Cost Accounting experience preferred
• Ability to develop Lean based accounting reporting
• Strong analytical skills
• Strong written and verbal communication skills
• Ability to develop strong partnership and relationship building skills
• Advanced proficiency in Microsoft Office products
• Ability to adapt to change quickly and multi-task.
