Planning Accountant/Analyst

Wahl Clipper Corporation, a global manufacturer of branded Consumer and Professional products, has an exciting opportunity for a team-oriented individual to fill the role of Planning Accountant/Analyst at our Global Headquarters in Sterling, Illinois.

This position performs a wide variety of accounting, reporting, planning, data input and analysis activities on a daily, weekly, monthly, annual and as needed basis as well as analysis performed in Excel, Power BI and other software. The Planning Accountant/Analyst reports directly to the Finance Director of the Americas. There are no direct reports to this position.

ESSENTIAL FUNCTIONS:

  • Maintain a high level of strict confidentiality and security.
  • Maintain knowledge of technical programs that involve global collaboration software, report writing software, and Data Warehouse.
  • Create and distribute a wide variety of reports that are visual, insightful, easy to understand, and distributed in a timely and efficient manner to many different business segments.
  • Ensure the accuracy and integrity of all corporate financial reports for both planned and actual results.
  • Responsible for analyzing, understanding and explaining the reports that are being published, both historical and planned reports and analysis.
  • Balance local financial reports, corporate reports, restructure of distribution methods for reports, update financials, and process improvements.
  • Provide recommendations and/or insight from analysis to grow the profitability of the company.

PRINCIPAL ACCOUNTABILITIES:

  • Perform planning analyst duties
  • Collect and input data into Financial Plan spreadsheets
  • Generate and distribute monthly reports for the Financial Plan
  • Resolve areas where problems occur
  • Review input and reports for completeness, reasonableness, and accuracy
  • Support the finance department on various projects assigned
  • Complete Corporate allocation to subsidiaries by sales division, product line and value stream
  • Maintain security and accuracy of all financial data and reports
  • Analyze, explain, and maintain a deep level of understanding for all reports published, providing insights of trends and recommendations and cost saving opportunities.
  • Lead continuous improvement efforts to consolidate and streamline report generation and distribution of all financial information and analysis. Perform other duties as assigned by supervisor

MINIMUM QUALIFICATIONS:

  • Bachelor's degree in accounting, finance or a related field required.
  • Minimum of two (2) years' experience in accounting required.
  • Strong proficiency in spreadsheet application (Excel), database application (Access or equivalent), and Business Intelligence applications (Power BI, Business Objects, Tableau).
  • Able to build reports, queries, and dashboards using various report writing software.
  • Able to interact across multiple functional groups.
  • Handle detail effectively and efficiently.
  • Strong analytical skills, high level of accuracy, and a strong accuracy review process are essential.
