Patent Trademark Administrator

Wahl Clipper Corporation, a global manufacturer of branded Consumer and Professional products, has an exciting opportunity for a team-oriented individual to fill the role of Patent Trademark Administrator at our headquarters in Sterling, Illinois 

This position is responsible for organizing and maintaining patent and trademark files, acting as liaison between the company and patent/trademark attorneys and providing clerical support to The Innovation Center.  The Patent and Trademark Administrator reports directly to the Intellectual Property Manager.  There are no direct reports to this position.

KEY ACCOUNTABILITIES:

• Serves as a support service to other Wahl Business partners to deliver value added services to our customers.
• Creates, organizes, maintains, and updates electronic and paper patent and trademark files.
• Maintains patent and trademark lists and meets with IP team to review.
• Acts as intermediary between Company and outside counsel, and assists in-house intellectual property counsel as needed.
• Conducts preliminary knockout trademark searches using the USPTO searchable database.
• Tracks and searches possible patent and trademark infringements; documents as necessary.
• Ensures necessary signatures are acquired for documents.
• Verifies and ensures proper payment of U.S. and foreign annuities in addition to patent and trademark attorneys.
• Partners with the IP team to continually improve processes, making them more efficient.
• Provides clerical support for the Innovation Center.
• Performs other duties as assigned by Supervisor.

MINIMUM REQUIREMENTS:

• Associate degree from a recognized training program for paralegals or an equivalent certificate in paralegal studies.
• Must be detail oriented, accurate, confidential and have strong oral and written communication skills.
• Must have excellent data entry and record keeping skills.
• Must be proficient in Microsoft Office.
• Experience with AS400 preferred
