Wahl Clipper Corporation, a global manufacturer of branded Consumer and Professional products, has an exciting opportunity for a licensed US Customs Broker to fill the role of North America Trade Compliance Manager at our Global Headquarters in Sterling, Illinois.

The North America Trade Compliance Manager ensures compliance with customs laws. This position reports directly to the Global Trade Compliance Manager and has one direct report.


ESSENTIAL FUNCTIONS:

  • Manage Item Classification and Country of Origin assignment. Classifies products and materials according to the Harmonized Tariff Schedule. Determines and maintains Country of Origin.
    • Audit existing HTS code assignments to ensure accuracy.
    • Audit imported components and finished goods for Country of Origin marking to ensure compliance with government laws.
  • Manages Customs Clearance Process by supporting customs clearance of shipments and providing required information for import and export documentation in accordance with customs regulations, laws, and/or procedures. Respond to information requests from government agencies.
  • Audit entry packets and supplier compliance with customs regulations to ensure proper government importing requirements are met.
  • Provides training on import and export compliance topics. Trains import suppliers on documentation requirements.
  • Provides strategic guidance on import/export compliance topics with internal and external partners.
  • Support Free Trade Agreements processes and procedures through research and communicates free trade agreement information.
  • Manage the duty drawback process to ensure compliance and maximize duty recovery.
  • Maintain Customs Compliance manual compromised of standard operating procedures, contact tree, and exception management.
  • Understanding of CBP programs such as ACE, Trade Agreements, etc.
  • Performs other duties as assigned by Supervisor.

REQUIRED QUALIFICATIONS:

  • Bachelor's degree plus a minimum of 5 years relevant work experience. (In lieu of a degree, an additional 2 years of experience is acceptable)
    • 5+ years of experience in Harmonized Tariff Schedule (HTS) assignment; OR
    • 5+ years of experience working customs operations, including classification, valuation, and Free Trade Agreements
  • US Customs Brokers License required
  • CCS and/or CES preferred
  • Proven knowledge of US Customs regulations and HTSUS classification
  • Proven knowledge of international shipping documentation, customs clearance, and freight forwarding
  • Strong attention to detail and proficient record-keeping and data management skills
  • Proficiency in MS Office Suite
  • Ability to research, interpret, and apply customs laws and regulations
  • International Supply Chain experience preferred
  • Ability to model the Company's values of respect for people, teamwork and continuous improvement
