Material Buyer I

Wahl Clipper Corporation, a global manufacturer of branded Consumer and Professional products, has an exciting opportunity for a team-oriented individual to fill the role of Material Buyer I.

This position is responsible for developing and coordinating procurement strategies to achieve material flow that supports customer satisfaction and financial objectives. The Material Buyer must comprehend the requirements of the production plan to bring strategic value to their assigned materials. The Material Buyer work relies on unifying cross functional partners such as suppliers, master scheduling and production control to enhance processes that achieve both material availability and inventory health. The Material Buyer I reports directly to the Lead Material Planner.

ESSENTIAL FUNCTIONS

• Develop knowledge of Master Planning in D365 to understand critical input and management needed to achieve quality material planning signals
• Manages material availability by monitoring D365 exception messages and following up with necessary partners to secure material needs to support the production plan
• Reviews daily planned order recommendations to develop a material plan to achieve customer fill rate and inventory turn objectives
• Responsible for inventory levels related to assigned material/commodities and working with Production Control and Master Scheduler in problem solving and execution of countermeasures for deviations to planned inventory levels
• Reviews inventory parameters to establish and maintain appropriate customer service driven safety stock levels while being compliant with company inventory objectives
• Create, modify and maintain realistic material strategies that support product introductions and phase outs
• Assists in resolving circumstances causing missed customer delivery dates or slow moving inventory by identifying causes and developing solutions to improve current and future state
• Manage and update key inventory parameters in MRP including but not limited to vendor lead time, transit time, lot sizes, inventory coverage groups
• Participates in the daily huddle with Master Scheduling and Production Control to review performance to plan, identify actions needed to close gaps to support customer OTIF and capacity utilization objectives
• Interfaces with Material Warehouse leadership to understand material flow concerns regarding space and inventory accuracies

MINIMUM REQUIREMENTS

• Excellent organizational, analytical, decision-making and communication skills
• Proficient PC user- Must be able to use software packages including: Microsoft Work, Excel and PowerPoint
• Strong foundation in customer fulfillment and inventory management concepts
• Understanding of manufacturing end to end processes
• Must understand and embrace the Wahl values and culture
• BS in Business, Operations Management, Supply Chain or related field of study required or comparable experience in an operations environment
• 1-3 years of experience in manufacturing scheduling, production control
