Wahl Clipper Corporation, a global manufacturer of branded Consumer and Professional products, has an exciting opportunity for a Manufacturing Engineering Technician for our Sterling factory.

The Engineering Technician works to develop and implement process improvements, identifies and makes design modifications, identifies cost savings opportunities, quality improvements and provides technical support to manufacturing operations.

ESSENTIAL FUNCTIONS:

  1. The Engineering Technician works with confidential information relative to manufacturing operations and development activities. Evaluates manufacturing processes applying knowledge of product design, fabrication, assembly, tooling and materials.
  2. The individual will stay abreast of technological advances and industry practices as they relate to daily operations. Identifies potential cost savings on materials used, quality improvements and productivity improvements on products. Determines methods for realizing those savings/improvements and implements processes to capture them.
  3. May work directly with equipment manufacturers. Specify tools and systems to best address needs, evaluate competitive offerings, make recommendations for purchase, generates requisition documentation and secure systems that meet standards and requirements for manufacturability.
  4. The Engineering Technician troubleshoots existing equipment and systems, making necessary adjustments to optimize outputs and safeguard product integrity, may replace and repair worn or malfunctioning components.
  5. May provide technical support and work with the operators to become proficient in any manufacturing process changes.

PRINCIPAL ACCOUNTABILITIES:

  1. Utilizes CAD system to design parts and assemblies.
  2. Reviews modifications of products with Manufacturing and provides technical assistance to manufacturing.
  3. Identifies process improvement and cost reduction opportunities.
  4. Builds prototype samples and coordinates pre-pilot and pilot evaluations on new and modified products.
  5. Develops purchase orders for critical equipment replacement & spare parts.
  6. Provides manufacturing engineering support for new product launch activities.
  7. Performs first article inspections, documents result and is involved in the decision-making based on the results.
  1. Provides technical support to manufacturing.
  2. Performs other duties as assigned by supervisor.

MINIMUM REQUIREMENTS:

  • AAS engineering (Mechanical or Electrical) related field of study preferred.
  • 1 - 2 years technical experience.
  • Lean Manufacturing skills.
  • Problem solving, analytical abilities.
  • Must have the ability to work in a team environment.
  • 3-D modeling/CAD experience desired.
  • Proficient in Microsoft Office applications.
  • Work in office engineering environment with occasional activities in the manufacturing environment. May be exposed to some dust and noise with light lifting requirements.
