JOB SUMMARY:

Work without direct supervision to keep electrical and hydraulic equipment, controls, devices, machinery, equipment and plant structure in operating condition. Assists in supervision and training of other maintenance personnel.


This position reports directly to the Maintenance Supervisor.


ESSENTIAL FUNCTIONS:


  1. Perform routine maintenance work on plant equipment including plastics processing equipment of all types, machine tools, punch presses, drill presses, grinders, pumps. Also maintain and install all conduit, piping, fittings, valves, gages, traps and all types of controls for high and low pressure hydraulic systems and steam/air lines. Lubricate machines and performs other plant maintenance as required. Use of welding equipment, mechanical, machine, and power tools as well as electrical testing equipment will be necessary for routine maintenance and repairs.

  1. Diagnose and repair mechanical, hydraulic and electrical trouble. Install, repair and adjust a variety of electrical equipment such as motors, lighting circuits, power line fixtures, switches and controls.

  1. Plans work layout for other maintenance personnel. Inform supervisor of the status of maintenance activities. In the absence of the supervisor, incumbent is in charge of the maintenance department.

PRINCIPAL ACCOUNTABILITIES:


  1. Maintain condition of equipment and structure plant wide to ensure continuous operation.

  1. Diagnose and correct problems with plant equipment to assist in efficient operation and production.

  1. Use strong supervisory skills to oversee maintenance personnel and inform supervisor of maintenance status.

MINIMUM REQUIREMENTS:

High school education or equivalent. High level of management/personnel supervisory skills. Basic math and machine trade courses taken (i.e. electrical, mechanical, welding, etc.). Ability to use welding equipment, mechanical, machine and power tools as well as electrical testing equipment.
