Learning and Development Specialist

Wahl Clipper Corporation, a global manufacturer of branded Consumer and Professional products, has an exciting opportunity for a team-oriented individual to fill the role of Learning and Development Specialist at our Corporate Offices located in Sterling, IL

The Learning and Development Specialist is responsible for creating a learning organization that ties to the overall business strategy.

This position reports directly to the Director of HR. The role has no direct reports. Will support learning and development for a direct labor force of 800, and a total employment of 1200 employees in the US and Canada.

ESSENTIAL FUNCTIONS:

  1. Partner with business leaders to assess current needs and effective solutions to close performance gaps utilizing both training and performance support initiatives.
  2. Design, develop, and implement learning programs that meet current and future business need, leveraging learning technologies and instructional design experience. Programs should include various elements designed to increase learning retention and application including digital learning tools.
  3. Develop and implement a long-term training and development road map focused on creating a culture of continuous learning.
  4. Leads the design and facilitation of high-quality, effective learning in various delivery formats including on the job, computer/video based and instructor-led learning.
  5. Proactively works with senior management to assess needs and identify project/program issues. Delivers innovative solutions involving substantial latitude (judgement/decision making skills) in course of action.
  6. Develop KPIs to track and measure internal effectiveness and performance.
  7. Promote measurable learning solutions with a focus on upskilling/reskilling employees to allow growth and development, tied to employee succession strategy.
  8. Manage Learning & Development data and analytics and translate data into deep insights and actions.
  9. Leads the implementation of appropriate change management initiatives associated with organizational transition activities.

MINIMUM REQUIREMENTS:

  • Bachelor's degree in Human Resources, Communication, or business-related field required.
  • 5+ years in Learning & Development with emphasis on working across all organization levels.
  • Training certification preferred.
  • Proven track record of strategy-through-execution, with evidence of results-driven execution.
  • Experience leading diverse teams in a matrixed environment, optimizing systems, and achieving benchmark goals.
  • Highly resourceful self-learner, with the ability to operate effectively independently forward looking thinker, who actively seeks opportunities and proposes solutions.
  • Excellent organizational and time management skills, ability to multitask, keen attention to detail and follow-up skills.
  • Ability to organize and prioritize work and manage multiple priorities simultaneously to meet deadlines.
  • Strong project management skills and the ability to drive initiatives from inception to completion.
  • Willingness to pitch in and assist with other projects and share responsibilities, as needed.
  • Must have good business acumen and the ability to see the "big picture".
  • Strong relationship skills with proven ability to effectively coach and influence. Strong sense of urgency.
  • Ability to communicate in a professional, positive, courteous manner with all levels of employees, customers, and visitors both verbal and written.
  • Ability to model the Company's values of respect for people, teamwork, and continuous improvement.
