Wahl Clipper Corporation, a global manufacturer of branded Consumer and Professional products, has an exciting opportunity for a team-oriented individual to fill the role of Lead Material Planner at our Global Headquarters in Sterling, Illinois.

This position is responsible for coordinating planning activities for a specific assigned area that has been purposely adjusted to allow focus on developing essential leadership knowledge under the guidance of the Material Manager. The Lead Material Planner will learn to lead through the servant leadership model by establishing expectations, coaching, and developing direct reports, and creating an empowered environment. The Lead Material Planner reports directly to the Material Manager and has 2-3 direct reports.

ESSENTIAL FUNCTIONS:

  • Coach and develop team members by utilizing own mastered approach as training material to strengthen team expertise and grow knowledge base.
  • Illustrate importance of operational rhythm by using established KPIs to reinforce daily accountability and strengthen team understanding of end-to-end connectivity.
  • Practice active listening to understand current state and support improvements to develop an empowered team culture.
  • Create cross functional presence by interfacing with key front line leadership to understand constraints and guides team members to develop solutions.
  • Lead team in preparation for daily huddles around performance to plan, take action, and close gaps.
  • Educates team members in developing inventory strategies to achieve optimal flow for both internal and external customers.
  • Understands D365 Dynamics capabilities and train team members to maximize tool efficiency.
  • Demonstrate awareness of team capabilities and development needs. Regularly provide feedback to team members on progress toward operational objectives and goals.
  • Act as a positive role model by taking proactive role in improving processes through training/teaching/coaching production and inventory control concepts and procedures.

PRINCIPAL ACCOUNTABILITIES:

  • Review SMART goals routinely to understand current state and communicate to direct reports
  • Meet customer expectations by supporting the success of achieving daily operational schedule
  • Provide leadership that allows for team success through a clear vision, coaching, and mentoring
  • Ensure team develops critical skills and identify growth opportunities that support their career goals
  • Coach and develop direct reports on continuous improvement practices and principles

MINIMUM REQUIREMENTS:

  • BA/BS degree in Business, Operations Management, Engineering, or related field of study required or comparable experience in an operations environment
  • Minimum of 3 years' experience in a manufacturing environment
  • Demonstrated ability to lead, motivate and inspire people to enable change and continuous improvements
  • Working knowledge of ERP systems is essential (Microsoft D365 preferred)
  • Demonstrated high proficiency of computer skills including working knowledge of Microsoft Office
  • Must understand and embrace the Wahl values and culture
