Wahl Clipper Corporation, a global manufacturer of branded Consumer and Professional products, has an exciting growth opportunity as an Industrial Engineering Supervisor.

This position oversees industrial engineering team and is responsible for promoting the effective and efficient use of people, machines, materials and information establishing flow to achieve new standards of safety, quality, delivery and cost in product manufacturing and customer service.

Additionally, this position will be a major contributor to lead implementation of advance lean and agile manufacturing practices following Wahl Operations System approach to continuously improve standards, both within the value-streams and throughout the organization. The Industrial Engineer reports to the Engineering manager. The industrial engineering team reports into this position. There is a strong collaborative relationship expected between the IE supervisor and all other functions of the factory & customer service.

PRINCIPAL ACCOUNTABILITIES:

  1. Employs lean manufacturing principles and tools to promote continuous improvement efforts in all manufacturing functions. Be a change agent through implementation of Wahl operations system Focused Problem-Solving Pillar
  2. In accordance to demand forecasting and CI initiatives, proactively lead capacity analysis across all the departments in the value stream in order to identify constraints and works on associated problem-solving initiatives.
  3. Identifies, leads, and participates in "rapid improvement (kaizen) events" aimed at mitigating constraints and/or addressing wastes and be a strong collaborator with all pillars of WOS to provide the required IE support & insight towards CI initiatives.
  4. Conducts ongoing and as-needed data analysis to provide pertinent information for Senior management for optimum Sales & Operations planning.
  5. Be a gatekeeper for managing Capital Investments, validates all capital investments and provides appropriate action plans based on justification studies.
  6. Designs and maintains manufacturing layout to enable efficient work flow and plan for future growth.
  7. Use benchmark, statistical analysis and data based approach to verify & approve time and method standards and cost estimates for new and existing processes and ensure that all manufacturing processes comply with health and safety regulations
  8. Trains employees as needed in the concepts of lean manufacturing such as 5S principles, problem solving tools etc..
  9. Create and Maintain a visual management system across the plant to report & manage value-stream performance metrics related to IE and associated action items at value stream level
  10. Collaborates with finance, product engineers, sales & marketing, procurement/sourcing, schedulers, quality auditors, cell leaders and manufacturing personnel on safety procedures, quality & delivery improvement, and cost reduction projects.

SECONDARY ACCOUNTABILITIES:

  1. Participates in new product launches to facilitate smooth implementation on the manufacturing floor.
  2. Creates and maintains work instructions / SOPs and certified master samples using visual aids.
  3. Maintains and updates routings, work instructions and bill of material for every relevant change.
  4. Audits and ensures that work centers are established/maintained in accordance with actual floor operations.
  5. Processes change notifications to ensure end-end transition and change implementation.
  6. Delivers additional projects and performs all other duties as assigned by Supervisor and/or senior management.

MINIMUM REQUIREMENTS:

  • Bachelor's Degree in Industrial Engineering or related field. Masters in Industrial engineering is preferable
  • 3 years of experience as an industrial engineer, involving MS Office, MRP Systems, and design software, preferably in a manufacturing setting
  • Passion of Lean Manufacturing and/or Six Sigma methodologies. Six Sigma Green Belt certification is desired.
  • Ability to manage multiple projects simultaneously.
  • Ability to collaborate effectively with cross-functional teams of varying sizes
  • Excellent communication and interpersonal skills
