Industrial Engineer

This position is responsible for promoting the effective and efficient use of people, machines, materials and information with consideration for flow, safety, quality, delivery and cost in product manufacturing and customer service.

Additionally, this position will be a major contributor to advance lean manufacturing principles and continuous improvement efforts both within the value-stream and throughout the organization.

The Industrial Engineer reports to the Value Stream Manager. There are no direct reports to this position. However, they will have to provide as-needed guidance to the industrial engineering tech. personnel.

PRINCIPAL ACCOUNTABILITIES:

1. Employs lean manufacturing principles and tools to promote continuous improvement efforts in all manufacturing functions
2. Performs capacity analysis across all the departments in the value stream in order to identify constraints and works on associated problem solving initiatives
3. Identifies, leads and participates in "rapid improvement events" aimed at mitigating constraints and/or addressing wastes
4. Conducts ongoing and as-needed data analysis to provide pertinent information for Senior Gemba, Speaker's Bureau and Sales & Operations planning
5. Validates capital investments and provides appropriate action plans based on justification studies
6. Designs and maintains value stream layout to enable efficient work flow and plan for future growth
7. Establishes time standards and cost estimates for new and existing processes.
8. Trains employees as-needed in the concepts of lean manufacturing such as 5S principles.
9. Maintains and reports value-stream performance metrics, rocks and associated action items at value stream level and also to senior management
10. Collaborates with finance, product engineers, sales & marketing, procurement/sourcing, schedulers, quality auditors, cell leaders and manufacturing personnel on safety procedures, quality & delivery improvement and cost reduction projects

SECONDARY ACCOUNTABILITIES:

1. Participates in new product launches to facilitate smooth implementation on the manufacturing floor
2. Creates and maintains work instructions and certified samples using visual aids
3. Maintains and updates routings, work instructions and bill of material
4. Audits and ensures that work centers are established/maintained in accordance with actual floor operations
5. Processes change notifications to ensure end-end transition and change implementation
6. Provides support to continuous improvement and problem solving initiatives
7. Ensures a safe work environment through the Safety Committee, safety audits, safety checks, accident investigations, corrective action, and safety training.
8. Delivers additional projects and performs all other duties as assigned by Supervisor.

MINIMUM REQUIREMENTS:

• Bachelor's Degree in Industrial Engineering or related field
• 3 years of experience as an industrial engineer, involving MS Office, MRP Systems, and design software, preferably in a manufacturing setting
• Ability to collaborate effectively with cross-functional teams of varying sizes
• Strong communication skills
• Adaptability to changing needs
