Industrial Design NPD Intern

Wahl Clipper Corporation, a global manufacturer of branded Consumer and Professional products, has an exciting opportunity for a Industrial Design NPD Intern at our Global Headquarters in Sterling, Illinois.

The Industrial Design intern must be a self-starter, motivated to learn and ask questions, and able to meet multiple deadlines regarding creating and prototyping designs. This individual must excel at free hand sketching, computer aided design, and building prototypes. They must have basic engineering skills in order to ensure manufacturability of the designs created.

PRINCIPAL ACCOUNTABILITIES:

1. Knowledge of Photoshop, Illustrator, Keyshot
2. Knowledge of digital sketching software.
3. Working knowledge CAD software, Rhino preferred
4. Working knowledge of human factors and ergonomics.
5. Rapid development of prototypes. Both rough foam and high finish presentation models.
6. Strong interpersonal skills and ability to clearly articulate ideas and thought process.
7. Understand the unique perspectives of Marketing, Engineering, and Operations.
8. Have passion for creating innovative products to satisfy end user needs.

MINIMUM REQUIREMENTS:

1. Current undergraduate student or recently graduated from an accredited university
2. Strong visual communication skills, both quick hand and digital sketching, and rendering.
3. Evaluate end users, and competitive products to develop cutting edge designs.
4. Comfortable presenting his/her ideas and self-motivated.
5. Currently enrolled in an accredited Industrial Design program.
6. Basic understanding of Engineering and the Manufacturing processes.
7. Excellent analytical, problem solving, teamwork and communication skills
