Wahl Clipper Corporation, a global manufacturer of branded Consumer and Professional products, has an exciting opportunity for a team-oriented individual to fill the role of Human Resources Business Partner at Wahl Clipper Corporation in Sterling, Illinois. 

The HR Business Partner is responsible for performing HR related duties on a professional level and will have direct accountability for all areas of human resources for Sterling operations, including organizational development, leadership coaching, employee relations, employee engagement, training, performance management and environmental. This position reports directly to the Director of HR.

ESSENTIAL FUNCTIONS:

  • Partner with functional leaders to develop business and organizational strategies; leverage knowledge of business strategy to develop programs to help drive a high performing organization.
  • Be a credible coach and business partner to our leadership teams, as well as a strong employee advocate.
  • Actively manage employee relations.
  • Lead, coach, develop, and motivate to ensure a talented, service-driven and resourceful HR team that sets the tone for organizational values and culture
  • Assist with development and implementation of processes/programs, related to employee communications, performance management, employee relations, compensation, employee engagement & retention, worker's compensation, and health & safety.
  • Provide guidance to leadership on talent development and succession planning to ensure the right capabilities and bench strength are developed to support the business long-term.
  • Provide effective and consistent communication at all levels in the organization to build and maintain employee engagement and collaborative working relationships.

PRINCIPAL ACCOUNTABILITIES:

  • Serves as a business partner with management to ensure positive change.
  • Manage activities such as performance management including motivating, coaching, disciplining and evaluating employees as well as support change management process.
  • Provide guidance on talent development and succession planning to ensure the right talent capabilities and bench strength are developed to support the business long term.
  • Responsible for three direct reports, Employee Relations & Training Manager and two HR Generalists and will support a direct labor force of 800, and a total employment of 1200 employees in the U.S.

MINIMUM REQUIREMENTS:

  • Bachelor's degree in Human Resources, Psychology or business-related field required.
  • Minimum 5 years' experience in leading an HR team including broad generalist background and skill base in the HR disciplines.
  • Experience in coaching, recruitment, employment investigations, training, policy development, Affirmative Action reporting and legal requirements.
  • Must be familiar with FMLA, ADA, ERISA, HIPAA, AAP, and be willing to stay abreast of the ever-changing laws and regulations in Employment Law.
  • Experience with compensation programs and implementing incentive plans.
  • Experience in creating and executing talent development and succession planning strategies.
  • Must have good business acumen and the ability to see the "big picture".
  • Strong competency in emotional intelligence and the ability to appropriately direct, manage and guide individuals.
  • Strong project management skills with the ability to effectively manage multiple tasks and projects simultaneously
  • Strong relationship skills with proven ability to effectively coach and influence. Strong sense of urgency.
  • Strong problem solving and conflict management skills. Experience with significant change management activities preferred, openness to change.   
  • Ability to communicate in a professional, positive, courteous manner with all levels of employees, customers, and visitors both verbal and written.
