Global Supply Chain Project Manager

Wahl Clipper Corporation, a global manufacturer of branded Consumer and Professional products, has an exciting opportunity for a team-oriented individual to fill the role of Global Supply Chain Project Manager at our headquarters in Sterling, Illinois.

The Global Supply Chain Project Manager will partner with Wahl subsidiaries and external supply chain partners to increase customer service levels and reduce overall costs by:

  • Establishing pack operations in the global territories to customize product for local market needs
  • Transfer pack operations from factory to the territory pack operations
  • Evaluate and improve Wahl's distribution network to improve service while reducing inventory and/or costs

ESSENTIAL FUNCTIONS:

  • Partner with product management, engineering, and operations to understand product configurations and delay product differentiation
  • Work with supply chain partners and finance to understand costs and the effects that the supply chain changes will have on total costs
  • Evaluate and execute introduction of new packaging skus in the pack operation, including the following:
    • Understand customer/market needs
    • Complete cost analysis
    • New item setup - including ERP requirements (setup items, BOMs)
    • Qualification - including local packaging qualification and packing operation
    • Customer fulfillment 
  • Partner with local territory resources to identify partners (packing operations, 3PLs, packaging suppliers, etc.) that can assist in implementing the vision
  • Support local territory resources to execute the project and manage the supply chain partner's cost negotiation, develop and manage packing schedule, identify cost reduction opportunities, partner with subsidiaries and suppliers to ensure quality requirements are executed (raw materials and FG), and audit packing operation/3PL processes
  • Develop an inventory management strategy that will ensure product availability to customer requirements while meeting inventory turn targets
    • Develop inventory strategy
    • Work with factories and suppliers to develop a replenishment plan that ensures product availability to meet customer demand requirements
    • Manage item transitions to minimize obsolesce expense
  • Evaluate existing distribution networks comprised of packing operation and distribution locations. Identify improvement opportunities (leadtime, cost, or inventory) and partner with territory resources to execute the improvements.

PRINCIPAL ACCOUNTABILITIES:

  • Responsible for planning, organizing, and directing the completion of global supply chain projects while ensuring these projects are on time, on budget, and within scope.
  • Partners cross-functionally internally and with global subsidiaries to ensure we are "One Wahl". Works closely with territory business leaders, factory support, customer service, quality, packaging engineering, and suppliers.
  • Thinks systemically to ensure end-to-end business strategy alignment.
  • Uses an innovative mind-set to continuously improve processes, analyze, problem solve, and come forward with proposals.
  • Holds accountability for efforts regarding on time delivery, total costs, quality, and customer complaints (packaging related).

MINIMUM REQUIREMENTS:

  • Bachelor's degree in Supply Chain, Business, Industrial Engineering or related field required
  • 5 years' experience required in a manufacturing, warehousing or distribution environment
  • Prior experience working globally preferred
  • Broad supply chain knowledge and experience, including: Operations, Inventory Management, Warehousing, Logistics
  • Demonstrated effective project management skills and ability to influence required
  • Ability to model the Company's values of teamwork, continuous improvement, and respect for every individual
  • Highly collaborative with the ability to work effectively with a variety of diverse cultural groups
  • Ability to travel internationally up to 25%
