Wahl Clipper Corporation, a global manufacturer of branded Consumer and Professional products, has an exciting opportunity for a highly collaborative engineering leader to join our Global New Product Development team.

The Global Director of New Product Development is responsible for the new product department as well as the management and support of the overall NPD projects and processes. The role reports to the VP of Innovation and Insights, leads the US based NPD Engineering teams and provides strategic oversight to global NPD projects in Europe and China through dotted line reporting.

ESSENTIAL FUNCTIONS:

• Provide leadership to the NPD team that allows for their success through a clear vision, coaching and mentoring.
• Ensure team members develop critical skills and identify growth opportunities that support their career goals.
• Global coordination and oversight of strategic NPD projects across development sites in the US, Europe, and China.
• Identifies and resolves situations to ensure full alignment through the strategic prioritization of projects.
• High-level management of new product projects including reconciling projects to resources, ensuring the appropriate resources are available (internal or external) and collaborating cross-functionally to bring effective outcomes.
• Collaborate with R&D and Product Management to ensure innovative ideas are utilized in new products.
• Ensure products are developed that provide required quality specifications when put into production to include participating in vendor selection and component.
• Champions the continual improvement of the new product development process and ensures processes are followed.

MINIMUM REQUIREMENTS:

• Vision and proven ability to lead a world class NPD stage gate or similar process covering a companywide product portfolio
• Excellent communication skills and ability to work cross-functionally
• Working knowledge of R&D, including long-term innovation
• Ability to implement and improve standard work processes
• Technical expertise with plastics, motors, batteries, CAD, mechanics and industrial design
• Development of timely, cost-effective consumer products
• Mastery level skills for leading teams including hiring, setting expectations, providing coaching and effective feedback
• Demonstrate awareness and behaviors that reflect The Wahl Way values
• Experience working with senior leaders including C-suite executives
• Key competencies including critical decision making, strategic thinking, a drive for results, and global perspective.
• Experienced with continuous improvement (lean or other similar practices)
• Excellent program and project management skills, PMP certification preferred
• Experienced with project hand offs to manufacturing, with strong experience in optimizing design for manufacturability
• Bachelor's degree in engineering; Master's degree preferred
• 10+ years of mechanical or electrical engineering experience with a minimum of 5 years successfully leading new product development teams
• Experience in consumer goods manufacturing preferred
