Financial Accounting Manager

Wahl Clipper Corporation, a global manufacturer of branded Consumer and Professional products, has an exciting opportunity for a team-oriented individual to fill the role of Financial Accounting Manager at our headquarters in Sterling, Illinois.

The Financial Accounting Manager organizes and directs all general accounting, fixed assets, accounts payable, cash application and payroll activities, ensuring alignment with business initiatives and the "Wahl Way".

Reporting directly to this position are the Payroll Administrator, Staff Accountant, Accounts Payable Clerk, Accounting Clerk and Cash Application Clerk.

ESSENTIAL FUNCTIONS:

• Maintains strict confidentiality in regard to company revenue and profit, wages and Protected Health Information (PHI), ensures compliance with company accounting policy and generally accepted accounting principles (GAAP), and stays abreast of any changes to GAAP as relevant to Wahl Clipper Corporation. Maintains confidentiality regarding product costing/pricing in communication with customers and potential customers.
• Assimilates and organizes data from various sources, ensuring accurate, timely financial reporting, processing various financial transactions/information for internal and external use.
• Monitors current systems and procedures and revises as necessary to eliminate waste and improve business processes, maintains chart of accounts, verifies support schedules to general ledger control accounts and performs bank account reconciliations.
• Performs general ledger account analysis, directs and evaluates the activities and performance of the accounts payable, payroll and cash application functions, and oversees cash disbursements in accordance with vendor terms and company policy.
• Ensures a sound system of internal control is in place for tracking fixed assets, and assists with the generation of monthly financial reporting / analysis and the year-end financial audit.
• Ensure alignment with staff on the "Wahl Way", career growth and to identify and address issues.
• Troubleshoots discrepancies between management reports and financial systems, ensuring correct general ledger accounting for all transactions and supervising staff.

PRINCIPAL ACCOUNTABILITIES:

• Models and incorporates the "Wahl Way" into day-to-day responsibilities, initiatives, and projects. 

• Develop and coach staff to maximize every individual's potential for growth within Wahl
• Ensures compliance with company accounting policy and GAAP.
• Monitors and identifies inefficiencies in accounting system and implements revisions.
• Maintains the company chart of accounts.
• Directs, monitors and evaluates the activities and performance of payroll, accounts payable and cash application functions.
• Supervises cash disbursements in accordance with vendor terms and company policy.
• Verifies support schedules to general ledger accounts.
• Ensures a sound system of internal control is in place for tracking fixed assets.
• Lead and/or assist in systems upgrades as needed. Assists with generation of monthly financial reporting and analysis.  Assists with year-end financial audit.   Assists with the yearly financial budget creation
• Performs other duties as assigned by Supervisor.

MINIMUM REQUIREMENTS: 

• Bachelor's degree in Accounting or Finance, with 5 (five) plus years of general accounting experience and two (2) plus years as a manager of an accounting staff preferred. 
• CPA strongly preferred. 
• Working knowledge of manual and automated accounting systems in a manufacturing environment preferred.
• Strong analysis, problem solving and communication skills.  Highly motivated, self-starter.
• Strong interpersonal skills and team player willing to help find solutions to business problems.
• Ability to model the "Wahl Way", including respect for every individual, integrity, innovation, and continuous improvement.
