The Engineering Manager - Stamping is responsible for all progressive die operations. Leads a team of individuals including the Tool Room Supervisor, Manufacturing Engineer, and Tool and Die Makers. Identifies year to year stamping goals and monitors the progress towards these goals. Continuously looks for new technologies and improved stamping practices. Works closely with stamping press operators and stamping cell leader to achieve maximum efficiency by providing the necessary tools to perform at their best. Monitors stamping scrap and looks for cost reduction possibilities. Leads high end capital equipment purchases including stamping presses, press peripheral equipment, class A progressive dies both forming and blanking. The Engineering Lead is heavily involved with the chosen die builder from purchase, die design approval, and throughout the build process. Often works with the toolroom team troubleshooting die issues and finding solutions when the dies do not produce blanks meeting specified tolerances. The Engineering Lead takes a hands-on team approach and is quick to find solutions to situations that require immediate attention. Toolroom Supervisor and Manufacturing Engineer report directly to the Engineering Lead. This position reports directly to the Director of Engineering.

MINIMUM REQUIREMENTS:

• Bachelor's Degree in Mechanical Engineering
• Minimum of 7 years working with high-speed Class A forming and blanking progressive dies.
• Tool and Die Maker with a Journeyman's card is a plus but not required.
• High level of verbal and written communication skills. Must be able to interface with individuals in variety of job levels both internally and externally.
• Strong project management skills, leadership ability and initiative
• Broad knowledge and experience working with all tool steels and carbide.
• 3-D modeling experience working in large assemblies is preferred (Siemens NX preferred)
• Creative problem-solving ability and high mechanical aptitude
• Ability to model the "Wahl Way", including respect for every individual, integrity, innovation, and continuous improvement.
• Eager to take a hands-on approach and engage quickly with all team members.
