SUMMARY

The Engineering Lab Technician Intern performs a variety of basic electrical and mechanical tests on products and components to determine performance, reliability, and safety. Assists plant personnel when problems arise with fixtures, gages and testing equipment.

PRINCIPAL ACCOUNTABILITES:


  1. Tests and evaluates products as requested by Engineers.

  1. Responsible for troubleshooting basic problems with fixtures, testing equipment and finished products.

  1. Tests and evaluates new products from vendors and/or competitors.

  1. Generates reports for all testing, evaluating and troubleshooting as to methods, results and recommendations.

  1. Builds prototypes of component parts, based on engineers' drawings.

  1. Performs other work as assigned by supervisor.

MINIMUM REQUIREMENTS:

  • Must have good mechanical, communication (written and oral) and organization skills, as well as the ability to read and follow test procedures.
  • Ability to work well with others and maintain a constructive work environment with minimum supervision.
  • Associates degree in Electronics preferred but not required.
    • Candidates who do not hold an AAS in Electronics must pursue classes in electronics at the college level, to gain basic knowledge of electronic principal, theories, testing procedures and the ability to run general lab equipment (multimeters, oscilloscopes, and power supplies).
