Wahl Clipper Corporation, a global manufacturer of branded Consumer and Professional products, has an exciting opportunity for a collaborative Engineer to join our New Product Development team as an Electronics Engineering at our Global Headquarters in Sterling, Illinois.
This position is responsible for design and development of electronics relating to new product engineering electro-mechanical, battery, and electronic control systems for existing and future product categories.
ESSENTIAL FUNCTIONS:
- Designs cost-effective high-quality circuitry to meet performance requirements of Wahl products.
- Implements designs into the manufacturing process, establishes manufacturing and inspection standards, and trains incoming inspectors in testing of products and designs.
- Designs electronic circuits, fixtures and testing procedures for laboratory testing. Assists other technical support employees with unresolved problems and trains employees in testing of circuits and products and proper use of fixtures.
- Plans and implements research methodology and procedures to apply principles of electrical theory to engineering projects. Investigates customer returns, determines nature and extent of problem and recommends corrective measures.
- Communicates internally with peers in Engineering, Research and Development, Manufacturing, Sourcing, Purchasing, Quality, Consumer Sales and Marketing and Professional Sales and Marketing. Communicates externally with Wahl vendors.
PRINCIPAL ACCOUNTABILITIES:
- Designs and debugs electrical circuits.
- Resolves electrical design problems on new and existing products.
- Assists in establishing manufacturing and inspection standards for electrical components and systems.
- Works to get designs implemented into manufacturing process.
- Trains employees in testing electrical circuits.
- Investigates customer returns and recommends resolution.
- Staying up to date with the latest technologies relevant to our field.
- Continuously learning on the job and through available resources.
- Performs other duties as assigned by supervisor.
MINIMUM REQUIREMENTS:
- Bachelor's Degree in EE
- 3 years' experience, preferably in a manufacturing setting
- Must stay abreast of technological advances within field of Engineering
- Experience with designing electro-mechanical systems, designing circuits and test systems, PCB design and layout software (E-CAD), and programming microcontrollers in C/C++.
- Experience with translating concepts into prototypes and products.
