Wahl Clipper Corporation, the world leader in cutting hair, has an exciting opportunity for a talented EHS or Engineering student to join our award-winning company, headquartered in Sterling, IL.
The EHS Intern plays a key role within the Environmental, Health, and Safety (EHS) department, gaining practical experience in enhancing and implementing EHS initiatives in the manufacturing environment. This internship offers the opportunity to explore various areas of EHS management, such as conducting safety inspection, risk assessments, monitoring compliance, analyzing safety metrics, and planning emergency response procedures.
The EHS Intern will work closely with the EHS Manager and EHS Specialist, contributing to a safer workplace.
Essential Functions:
- Assist with safety inspections and risk assessments across the facilities.
- Help maintain safety records, documentation, and databases.
- Work alongside EHS team to analyze safety data and identify trends.
- Collaborate on the development and revision of safety procedures and guidelines.
- Support planning and facilitation of safety training programs.
- Aid in monitoring compliance with health and safety regulations at local, state, and federal levels.
- Contribute to the creation and execution of emergency response plans and drills.
- Participate in incident investigations and help prepare reports with recommendations.
- Support safety awareness efforts through campaigns and educational material development.
- Work with different departments to incorporate safety practices into daily operations.
Minimum Requirements:
- Currently enrolled in an undergraduate or graduate program in Mechanical Engineering, Industrial Engineering, Electrical Engineering, Health and Safety, Environmental Science, or a related field.
- Strong commitment to fostering a culture of safety and well-being. Excellent communication skills, both written and verbal.
- Ability to work independently and in a team environment.
- Basic knowledge of EHS regulations and principles.
- Strong attention to detail, self-motivation, and multitasking ability, along with flexibility to adapt to changes.
- Understanding of manufacturing environments.
- Proficiency in Microsoft Office, Machine design, CAD and data analysis tools.
