Draftsman/CAD Technician

Wahl Clipper Corporation, a global manufacturer of branded Consumer and Professional products, has an exciting opportunity for a team-oriented individual to fill the role of Draftsman/CAD Technician at our headquarters in Sterling, Illinois. Learn more about the Wahl difference here. 

The CAD Technician (Draftsman) uses CAD systems to create, support and improve design plans for parts and assemblies. Works with a team that primarily focuses on product support and improvement.

The Drafting Technician uses CAD systems to revise and create detail drawings for product components, assemblies, fixtures and gauges.  Revises existing and creates CAD models as requested by Engineers.  Works with product engineering team that focuses on new product development projects.

PRINCIPAL ACCOUNTABILITIES:

• Works with Design, Electrical and Project Engineers to create and revise detail drawings. Revises and creates CAD models necessary for release of new products into production.
• Engaged in department need for CAD drafting and modeling.
• Assist with ECNs (Engineering Change Notice).
• Works with engineering team on development of new fixtures and gauges.
• Assists with inspection, measuring parts and product testing.
• Orders 3-D printed prototypes.
• Performs other duties as assigned by Supervisor.

MINIMUM REQUIREMENTS:

• Associates Degree in drafting/mechanical/engineering or related field required
• 1-3 years of experience is preferred
• Strong Computer Aided Design skills, NX Unigraphics preferred
• Detail oriented and ability to apply current part dimensioning and geometric tolerance standards
• Ability to communicate effectively through oral and written presentation
• Working knowledge of computer programs including MS Office
