Director of North America Sourcing

Wahl Clipper Corporation, a global manufacturer of branded Consumer and Professional products, has an exciting opportunity for a team-oriented individual to fill the role of Director of North America Sourcing at our headquarters in Sterling, Illinois. 

The Director of North America Sourcing will lead the purchasing sub teams responsible for all strategic and operational aspects of managing the annual spend, combined across direct and indirect categories. This position will be a key, hands-on member of the North America operations team, and will play an essential role in leading continuous process improvement, cross-functional collaboration, cost savings initiatives and developing the purchasing organizations capabilities to create value for all internal and external customers.   

PRINCIPAL ACCOUNTABILITIES:

• Develop and execute sourcing strategies that are aligned with the overall business strategy, and implement commodity risk management plans
• Coach, develop, lead and motivate a high performing team that will provide effective category plans, strategic sourcing strategies and assurance of supply for all key material groups
• Ensure effective selection, development and management of supplier base through horizontal collaboration and leadership
• Directly manage complex negotiations with key suppliers that require a detailed strategic plan. Decision maker and subject matter expert for risk management allowances, terms/conditions, pricing, transportation, pricing and quality control/acceptance.
• Support product launches and transitions by partnering with new product development, product management and operations early in the process
• Partner with R&D to drive supplier innovation by proactively seeking new technologies and materials
• Lead total cost of ownership, quality at source and supplier value-add purchasing initiatives
• Develop simple, effective problem-solving processes and visuals
• Provide effective and consistent communication at all levels in the organization to build and maintain strong working relationships with key business stakeholders

MINIMUM REQUIREMENTS:

• Bachelor's degree in procurement, supply chain management, business, or related field
• 8+ years strategic sourcing experience
• 5+ years' experience in purchasing program management and team leadership
• 4+ years in consumer products industries preferred
• Extensive experience sourcing materials in Asia and Europe
• Strong ability to solve problems and produce alternative solutions
• Strong negotiation and contract management skills
• Proven ability to effectively lead
• Strong internal relationship building capability with the ability to influence without direct authority
• Ability to take complex information and present it in a simple, visual format
