We have an exciting opportunity for a current Wahl employee to join our Materials Team as a Buyer/Planner.

This position is responsible for developing and coordinating end-to-end supply chain strategies that achieve material flow and manufacturing efficiencies to satisfy customer need and inventory objectives. The Material Buyer/Planner must comprehend both the requirements of the production plan and supplier to bring strategic value to their assigned materials. The Material Buyer/Planner work relies on unifying cross functional partners such as suppliers, master scheduling and manufacturing to enhance processes that achieve both material availability, inventory health and customer fulfillment.

The Material Buyer/Planner role applies their experienced skill set to a more impactful, complex and higher variation area of responsibility. The scope requires advanced understanding to drive continuous improvements within the end-to-end material supply chain. This work requires independent decision making and the ability to manage multiple priorities to achieve desired results.

ESSENTIAL FUNCTIONS:

  1. Builds strong relationships across the company to leverage ideas, capabilities and processes while instilling energy and enthusiasm to achieve company goals
  2. Identifies value-added processes to maximize performance and productivity. Integrates and streamlines processes throughout the supply chain
  3. Interacts with multiple areas inside and outside of the organization to create a sense of urgency to improve customer fulfillment and inventory turn
  4. Evaluates and analyzes production capability and capacity plans, processes, and products; recommends improvements; and implements approved changes
  5. Provides guidance and shares knowledge with more junior team members
  6. Applies advanced knowledge of Master Planning in D365 to enhance system utilization and improve critical input management to achieve quality material planning signals
  7. Drives daily production efficiencies by releasing and sequencing production orders based on material and capacity availability to achieve customer needs
  8. Reviews daily planned order recommendations to develop a material plan that supports the production plan
  9. Responsible for inventory levels related to assigned material/commodities and monitors D365 exception messages to mitigate risk to both customer fill and inventory objectives
  10. Reviews inventory parameters to establish and maintain appropriate customer service driven safety stock levels while being compliant with company inventory objectives
  11. Assists in resolving circumstances causing missed customer delivery dates or slow moving inventory by identifying causes and developing solutions to improve current and future state
  12. Manage and update key inventory parameters in MRP including but not limited to vendor lead time, transit time, lot sizes, inventory coverage groups
  13. Applies supply chain knowledge and experience to identify and improve production efficiency processes
  14. Monitors current business challenges to find solutions for unexpected situations and recommends changes or creates new production processes to expedite the flow of materials. Overcomes obstacles to drive initiatives and actions to closure
  15. Participates in complex situations that are elevated out of routine parameters
  16. Collaborates with internal and external stakeholders to keep materials flowing efficiently within our processes
  17. Evaluates and analyzes capability and capacity plans, processes, and products; recommends improvements; and implements approved changes

PRINCIPAL ACCOUNTABILITIES:

  1. Review SMART goals daily to understand current state and gaps to resolve
  2. Promote quality-oriented mindset around data integrity with front line leadership
  3. Meet customer on time, in full expectations by reviewing operational performance & inventory flow
  4. Achieve inventory turn objectives by understanding customer demand and lead times to establish target inventory levels

MINIMUM REQUIREMENTS:

  • Advanced manufacturing systems/planning knowledge- ERP experience. Microsoft D365 Dynamics knowledge strongly preferred.
  • Excellent organizational, analytical, decision-making and communication skills
  • Advanced PC user- Must be able to use software packages including: Microsoft Work, Excel and PowerPoint
  • Strong foundation in customer fulfillment and inventory management concepts
  • Understanding of manufacturing end to end processes
  • Must understand and embrace the Wahl values and culture
  • BS in Business, Operations Management, Supply Chain or related field of study required or comparable experience in an operations environment
  • APICS (CPIM/CIRM/CSCP) certification preferred or completed within 24 months in position
  • 3+ years of experience in manufacturing scheduling, production control or similar function
