Wahl Clipper Corporation, a global manufacturer of branded Consumer and Professional products, has an exciting opportunity for an experienced Buyer to join our Materials team at our Global Headquarters in Sterling, Illinois.

The Buyer II is an experienced professional position responsible for advanced management strategies of the procurement signals from order placement to receipt. The Material Buyer II applies professional knowledge and expertise to elevate the procurement strategy provided by quality master data inputs to the Material Requirements Planning (MRP) within the ERP system. This role daily coordinates procurement deliveries to achieve material flow that supports customer OTIF and capacity utilization objectives. The Material Buyer II assigned materials are expanded in scope with added complexity and variation. This work requires independent decision making and the ability to manage multiple priorities to achieve desired results.

ESSENTIAL FUNCTIONS:

  1. Applies advanced knowledge of Master Planning in D365 to understand critical inputs and management needed to achieve quality material planning signals
  2. Reviews material availability by monitoring D365 expedited messages and communicates gaps and solutions to resolve at daily tiered meetings
  3. Responsible for reviewing D365 excess inventory messages, prioritizing largest impact, identifying root cause and partners with vendors on proposed solutions to action gap to target
  4. Independently develops material strategies that supports production introductions and phase outs objectives
  5. Manages master data in MRP including but not limited to vendor lead time, transit time, lot sizes, inventory coverage groups to drive improved quality material planning signals
  6. Reviews and adjusts daily planned order recommendations to develop a material plan to achieve customer fill rate, cost and inventory goals
  7. Participates in the daily huddle with Master Scheduling and Production Control to identify actions needed to close gaps to support customer OTIF and capacity utilization objectives
  8. Communicate with Material Warehouse priority inbound materials for expedited flow
  9. Interacts in a professional and responsive manner
  10. Effectively builds rapport with cross functional partners and is responsive to their needs
  11. Leads supervisor weekly 1:1s and communicates issues and support needed
  12. Accountable to lead moderate team projects/assignments
  13. Acts as a resource to Material Buyer I for training of standard activities, providing technical and functional coaching
  14. Identifies value-added processes to maximize performance and productivity. Integrates and streamlines processes throughout the supply chain.

MINIMUM REQUIREMENTS:

  • Excellent organizational, analytical, decision-making and communication skills
  • Advanced understanding of technology and integration into daily process and standard work. Microsoft/SAP experience preferred.
  • Strong foundation in customer fulfillment and inventory management concepts
  • Good understanding of manufacturing end to end processes
  • Must understand and embrace the Wahl values and culture
  • BS in Business, Operations Management, Supply Chain or related field of study required or comparable experience in an operations environment
  • 3+ years of experience in manufacturing scheduling, production control or similar function
  • APICS (CPIM/CIRM/CSCP) certification preferred or completed within 24 months in position
