The Business Analyst – Consumer Division is responsible for account specific profit and loss analysis and assisting in the administration of promotional funding under the direction of the Director of Business Management, Consumer Division. There are no direct reports into this position.

ESSENTIAL FUNCTIONS:

  • Performs cost analysis for accurate profit and loss of customers to be included in internal strategy meetings.
  • Ensure advertising program requirements and procedures are followed. Once promotional funding is approved, the Business Analyst reviews deductions for validity, issues credits and/or disputes as applicable. Additionally, the analyst can provide historical information and analysis of past promotional spending and, in some cases, the success of those promotions.
  • Processes return reports, verifying accuracy of information provided. This includes reviewing return items and determining if the return is defective, overstock, discontinued, etc. This information has to be understood as we review customer account P&Ls and determine future price and program negotiations with the customers based on the costs of the returns and negotiated return programs.
  • Disputes discrepancies with audits. Issues payments or Return Authorizations when issues arise with audits.
  • Assists with reports of accruals by reviewing expenses falling in the divisional P&L under advertising and returns, determine if we are on track according to plan and if we need to adjust accruals against the yearly plan.
  • May communicate with customers regarding outstanding promotional and other deductions, communicates with IMRs to provide or receive information about deductions or customer P&L analysis.
  • The analyst pulls item costing information, applies overhead and other costs to the items, then uses customer historical and gathered information to determine the cost of doing business with the customer as it applies to each item and overall, for the entire account. The accuracy of pulling and gathering this information and the analysis done is extremely important, as errors can come at a cost of 100/1,000s of dollars to the division and company.
  • Will be required to build and maintain data visualization tools, such as Microsoft PowerBI to further business insights.

PRINCIPAL ACCOUNTABILITIES:

  • Maintains confidentiality regarding division and company costs and profit and customer pricing and program costs.
  • Leads with a high sense of accuracy, creating value for the customer.
  • Continuously identifying areas of improvement and provides potential solutions.
  • Ensures reports and analysis are completed in a timely manner, many deadlines due to requirement of customer "asks" as well as short notice of some customer meetings.
  • Performs other duties as assigned by Supervisor.

MINIMUM REQUIREMENTS:

  • Bachelor's Degree in Finance, Accounting, or other related field of study
  • 5 years' experience in analytics in a retail/manufacturing/sales environment
  • Proficient in Microsoft applications, with an emphasis in Excel and basic IT knowledge.
  • Data warehouse and experience in building and maintaining data visual tools, such as PowerBI needed.
  • Report drafting knowledge
  • Business formal communication skills
  • Proven ability to learn quickly and manage time effectively to meet target deadlines.
  • Ability to research and analyze past and current customer sales, promos and profitability to inform divisional leaders in order for them to make sound and strategic business decisions.
  • Ability to model the Company's values of Creating Value for the Customer, Continuous Improvement, and service to our customers while treating all individuals with respect.
