Wahl Clipper Corporation, a global manufacturer of branded Consumer and Professional products, has an exciting opportunity for an experienced Blades Manufacturing Engineer to join our team.

The Blades Manufacturing Engineer is responsible for maintaining and improving existing products for safety, performance, manufacturability and assembly. Tasks include identifying and solving problems on products, processes, part design and manufacturing. Assignments are broad in scope and range in complexity requiring creativity, initiative and judgment with a broad understanding of a wide range of engineering principles, manufacturing and assembly processes. Additionally, this individual will work in the area of operations development, identify new equipment requirements, develop process specifications and work cross functionally with a team to specify, acquire, execute and validate capital equipment.

ESSENTIAL FUNCTIONS:

  • Works with confidential information in regard to manufacturing engineering/projects and patents.
  • Oversee the design, specifications, development and manufacturability of our products through stable high-volume mass production.
  • Initiate and implement continual process improvement activities through Kaizen events and Lean Manufacturing designed to reduce cost, scrap & downtime and improve quality, productivity and profitability.
  • Investigate new technologies and processes to maintain cutting edge design solutions and drive innovations.
  • Work closely with New Product Development Team to help in design reviews and ensure a smooth transition from concept to manufacturing and full production.
  • Work closely with Quality and Operations on product and process changes to manufacturing.
  • Assist the Quality Department with FMEA's, Control Plans and Process Capabilities.
  • Determine root causes of failures using statistical methods and recommend changes in designs, tolerances, or processing methods.
  • Assist with the purchase of equipment, tools, dies, fixtures, and materials to meet product quality and manufacturing capacity.
  • Ensures safety of manufacturing process, and safety and functioning of products.
  • Set goals to the team and individuals which align with the company's overall strategic objectives and manage the execution of goals.
  • Prepares and submits reports to Management on progress and status of projects.
  • Works to improve productivity, quality and decrease costs of manufacturing process.
  • Provides manufacturing engineering support for capital acquisition projects.

MINIMUM REQUIREMENTS:

  • AS (+4 years' experience) or BS in technical or engineering (Mechanical or Electrical) related field of study required - background and/or experience a must.
  • Must posses or actively pursue CAD ability.
  • Must be willing to study manuals and literature on equipment and be willing to attend classes/training on related subjects.
  • Must possess good math skills, good attendance, ability to work in a team environment and the ability to follow established work rules and safety procedures.
  • Must be able to sit, stand and reach for extended periods of time and be able to lift up to 50 lbs occasionally.
