Assistant Product Manager

Wahl Clipper Corporation, a global manufacturer of branded Consumer and Professional products, has an exciting opportunity for an energetic and team-oriented individual to fill the role of Assistant Product Manager at Wahl Clipper Co., in Sterling, IL.

This position supports a designated category and assists Product Manager in performing day-to-day tasks that contribute to completing projects. Conducts market analyses and helps in the creation and formation of products.  

Essential Functions: 

1. The Assistant Product Manager helps maintain product assortment through frequent portfolio evaluation, profitability analysis, sku rationalization and other activities that ensure the assortment remains market relevant and profitable.
2. Determines product costs and reviews margin profitability for items and categories.
3. Collaborates withengineering and graphic design during product development to ensure that packaging conveys the appropriate message to the customer, based on the target audience and company goals.
4. Conducts market research through online surveys and focus groups to identify product preferences and latent needs of end users. This position also performs competitive analysis and other market reviews to find opportunity gaps to target.
5. Collaborates with subsidiaries and product management counterparts to support the business relationship as a subject expert on the products and category dynamics.
6. This role works with 3rd party vendors; both service agencies & product vendors, to support business needs.
7. Supports business with trade show activities and other collateral support.

Principal Accountabilities: 

1. Conducts market research and analysis to understand what is happening in the market place and apply this knowledge to projects
2. Contributes to formation of new products and packaging design
3. Uses presentation skills to communicate product and market information to potential/current customers
4. Provides costs for P&L
5. Develops SKU Rationalization based upon product market strategy
6. Develop end of life strategy for products & reduce inventory levels
7. Travels as required by the position
8. Performs other duties as assigned by supervisor

Minimum Requirements: 

• Bachelor's degree
• 1-3 years related work experience
• Ability to work in a team environment
• Must have strong communication skills
• Proficient in Microsoft Office applications, especially Excel and PowerPoint
• Must be able to prioritize tasks and be comfortable with multi-tasking
• Ability to perform duties with minimal supervision
• Must be able to perform non-strenuous light physical activity
