Wahl Clipper Corporation, a global manufacturer of branded Consumer and Professional products, has an exciting opportunity for an Assistant Product Manager on our Consumer Sales and Marketing team at our Global Headquarters in Sterling, Illinois.

The Assistant Product Manager is responsible for managing all aspects of their assigned categories. This position is the voice of the consumer inside of Wahl, creating value through product innovation, positioning, and strategic planning. Assist in leading the team against an ever-changing competitive environment, leveraging resources inside and outside of Wahl to help drive success while exemplifying the Wahl way. The ideal candidate is proactive, creative, passionate, intelligent, conscientious and collaborative.

ESSENTIAL FUNCTIONS:

  • Collaborate with sales team members to develop marketing and positional mixes of products for their retail customers
  • Inspire sales team with compelling selling stories that engage our customers and secure shelf space and sales opportunities
  • Discover and develop new selling positions and unique points of difference that justify shelf placement
  • Educate sales and customers on the category, changing trends, and opportunities for growth
  • Assist in strategically managing the product mix and lifecycle to maximize profits for the organization locally and globally end-to-end
  • Develop new products, offerings, and market positions that deliver higher profits to replace low-profit legacy items
  • Assist in managing the P&L for the category and continuously seek a better way to deliver value to Wahl
  • Participate in developing new platforms to maximize manufacturing efficiencies
  • Strive to become the subject matter expert that has full empathy with our users and is their advocate at Wahl
  • Be a brand ambassador for Wahl through all routes to the consumer delivering a consistent brand message that engenders long-term loyalty
  • Assist in developing voice of the consumer business plans that create new product/positions based on consumer needs, irritant resolution and motivators that increases market share
  • Assist in forecast analysis to better communicate to factories
  • Collaborate cross territory to build global platforms and innovation
  • Implement best practices across all types of market research to identify opportunities and threats
  • Assist in the creation and maintenance of our vision through a perpetual 5-year plan that positions Wahl on the forefront and maintains category leadership

MINIMUM REQUIREMENTS:

  • Bachelor's degree in marketing or business management
  • 3+ years of demonstrated success in similar roles
  • Experience with secondary research (POS providers, market trend reports, etc.)
  • Excel in the use of primary research (online, ethnography, focus groups, etc.)
  • Demonstrate connecting the dots of data to create effective strategies and stories
  • Comfortable presenting to stakeholders as well as other levels inside and outside of the organization with audiences of any size
  • Keen instinct and intuition with ability to learn & adapt quickly to new situations
  • Must have excellent personal and communication skills
  • Entrepreneurial spirit for work - Eager to succeed
  • At ease working under tight deadlines with very large risk-reward outcomes
  • Willing to travel 20% or as necessary to create success for the division
