JOB SUMMARY:

This position assists the Value Stream management in the overall supervision of operations within in the department. Ensures timely delivery of quality products in a safe work environment. Provides leadership to employees. Oversees the performance of cells as assigned.

The Manufacturing Supervisor reports directly to the Value Stream Manager/Assistant Value Stream Manager. Reporting directly to this position are the Cell Leaders, Set-Up and Machine Maintainers, Material Handlers, Operator I, II and III employees, unless otherwise determined by the Department Manager.

PRINCIPAL ACCOUNTABILITIES:

1. Supervises department employees and cells as assigned.
2. Assists in the training and selection of employees.
3. Enforces safety regulations and maintains safe working practices and conditions in accordance with company and governmental requirements.
4. Ensures all product quality requirements are met as required in the work instructions and quality procedures.
5. Assigns jobs to ensure schedules, Kan Ban levels and takt time are met.
6. Develops and implements cost reductions in the department.
7. Maintains accurate production records in an organized manner.
8. May temporarily assume responsibilities of the Department Manager, if so delegated.
9. Counsels and disciplines employees as needed.
10. Maintains necessary inventory of departmental supplies. Requisitions purchases as needed.
11. Champions lean manufacturing processes within area of supervision.
12. Performs other duties as assigned by supervisor.

MINIMUM REQUIREMENTS:

• High school diploma or equivalent is required.
• Two-year college degree is preferred.
• Must possess strong supervisory skills and the ability to communicate effectively with both employees and management.
• Hands-on skill and detailed knowledge of lean manufacturing principles is required.
