2nd SHIFT ASSISTANT VALUE STREAM MANAGER

JOB SUMMARY:

The assistant value-stream manager works closely with the Value Stream Manager to create vision and strategy to align with customer needs. This position should serve as an ambassador for the Wahl Way values and culture, leading by example. This position will also lead change and continuous improvement to align with company initiatives.

REPORTING RELATIONSHIP:

This position reports directly to the Value Stream Manager. Directly reporting to this position will be all manufacturing supervisors on second shift. Indirect reports will include cell leaders on second shift.

ESSENTIAL FUNCTIONS:

• Lead, coach, develop and motivate to ensure proper training, resources, and supplies are managed appropriately throughout the value stream to attain strategic objectives.
• Analyze value stream's performance measurements and communicate opportunities to eliminate barriers, improve production flow, and implement continuous improvement projects.
• Communicate clear expectations to direct reports on policy administration.
• Identify and eliminate waste and operation problems throughout the value stream to achieve optimal sales and profit growth. 
• Manages performance, development, and coaching of team members within value stream.
• Ensures proper training and cross training standards exist for team members. Creating an audit process to make sure procedure is being followed and that it is effective.
• Model the Company's values of respect of every individual, integrity, lead with humility, continuous improvement, and enterprise alignment.  Demonstrate the highest ethical standards and set the expectation, confirm understanding and hold accountability throughout value stream.
• Making constraints known through visual management. Visual boards should include ongoing improvement efforts, estimated resolution dates, and supporting data. 

PRINCIPAL ACCOUNTABILITIES:

• Supports the day-to-day activities within the value stream to ensure that current expectations and goals are achieved while improvements are being made.
• Utilizes lean principles to improve capacity, reducing costs, and meet production needs.

• Supports root cause problem solving by providing necessary resources.
• Ensure there are standard work procedures in place to ensure success on all levels.
• Ensure entire team staff are properly trained, have appropriate resources and motivate to attain strategic objectives.
• Assists in setting attainable performance and production goals and provides feedback on progress.
• Assists in developing succession planning across value stream.

• Develops relationships across the business that help create a culture of continuous improvement

• Partners closely with all departments to ensure end to end success.

MINIMUM REQUIREMENTS:

• BA/BS degree with emphasis in a manufacturing discipline/technical field or equivalent experience
• Minimum of five years progressive experience with a lean manufacturing environment Solid manufacturing foundation with specific lean tools (5S, facilitation of Kaizen events, Value Stream mapping, etc.)
• Solid background in project management and training
• Ability to support change management
• Six Sigma and Lean certifications preferred.
• Ability to lead with humility and respect every individual
• Ability to embrace a culture of empowering employees, innovation and risk taking, and creating value for the customer.
