1st Shift Quality Assurance Auditor

Wahl Clipper Corporation, a global manufacturer of branded Consumer and Professional products, has an exciting opportunity for a team-oriented individual to fill the role of 1st Shift Quality Assurance Auditor at our Global Headquarters in Sterling, Illinois.

The Quality Assurance Auditor is a cross functional position within the Quality Assurance Department. The auditors will work within each department such as assembly and sub assembly, production and receiving, or other areas as identified. Works to improve quality and solve quality problems. Compares products, attachments, and packaging to Wahl product specification, by random sampling of product, to ensure proper specifications are being followed and achieved. Focuses on conformity throughout the organization. Maintains positive working relationships with all operators and leaders during everyday work.

REPORTING RELATIONSHIP:

This position reports directly to the Quality Cell Leader and has no direct reports.

ESSENTIAL FUNCTIONS:

1. The Quality Assurance Auditor takes a random sample of his/her products, attachments or packaging and compares them with Wahl product specifications. This position is responsible for performing all functional, visual and safety inspections. The Quality Assurance Auditor records all data from inspections and informs the operator and/or Cell Leader of any problems found.
2. Constant communication with operators and leaders to document and correct all issues identified while upholding the Wahl Way values.
3. The Quality Assurance Auditor is responsible for following up on problems such as defective parts or incorrect work instructions. This position traces defects back to previous operations and takes corrective action while ensuring all associated parties are informed.
4. The Quality Assurance Auditor works with operators, laborers and leaders to resolve quality problems and the inspection process. This position assists the Cell Leaders in educating employees on quality specifications. Helps ensure work instructions are posted at each operation and that each operator understands and conforms to quality portions of the work instructions. In certain roles auditors will verify specific job-related documentation such as, but not limited to, blueprints, packing slips and bill of material to ensure conformity.
5. The Quality Assurance Auditor is responsible for effectively using inspection equipment such as micrometers, calipers, visual inspection machine or other necessary equipment to complete the tasks of their job efficiently.

PRINCIPAL ACCOUNTABILITIES:

1. Performs quality audits and inspections on a random sample of products or entire lots to ensure quality specifications are maintained.
2. Understand and champion Wahl Clipper's ERP System to ensure proper flow of information and materials.
3. Works to improve and maintain quality of all products and processes through problem solving and education of employees while maintaining a positive and professional demeanor to all involved.
4. Maintains constant communication within the Quality Assurance team and cross functionally to ensure organizational success.
5. Performs other work assigned as necessary.

MINIMUM REQUIREMENTS:

High School Diploma or Equivalent. Strong math skills and basic knowledge of statistics. Ability to make decisions. Ability to read and interpret blueprints and use testing equipment and gauges. Ability to understand all documentation needed to complete the assigned tasks such as a Bill of Material, Packing Slip, etc. Ability to lift 10 to 20 lbs. Ability to work well with different levels of operations and leadership to effectively and efficiently communicate and problem solve.
